Lottery Winner in Illinois Hits Jackpot of $9.2M, Thanks to ‘Broken Machine’ at Addison Jewel-Osco

A broken machine issued an incorrect ticket, which led to him winning and becoming a lottery winner in Illinois, to the tune of $9.2 million.

It was a true stroke of luck when a ‘broken machine’ was stuck on a winning ticket. It changed a man’s life forever when he was forced to buy it.

It was August 24, and just another usual day for a man as he shopped for groceries at Jewel-Osco on 140 West Lake Street in Addison, Illinois.

When he was leaving the store, he decided to try his luck and approached the vending machine for a lottery ticket.

The machine was stuck on Lotto and did not allow him to purchase the ticket for a different game, which annoyed him.

Not left with any choice, he decided to buy whatever was available and ended up with the Lotto ticket.

About a month later, when the results were announced, he thought of scanning the ticket at a machine to check if he had won anything.

He was shocked to learn he had won a whopping $9.2 million!

He found the win unbelievable, and when he told his wife, she was left stunned and speechless.

The couple, who chose to remain anonymous, laughed together, recalling his frustration at the broken machine.

Had it not been for the broken machine that refused to give him the ticket for his preferred game, he would have never won the prize money.

The winning ticket had all the numbers for the Lotto game, that is, 2, 15, 21, 29, 42, and 44.

The couple was extremely grateful for the broken machine and how the entire situation turned out, leading them to win $9,200,000.

The Jewel-Osco in Addison will also receive $92,000, one percent of the total prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Although things didn’t go as he planned, the outcome was even better than the fortunate man could have imagined.
