Coffee Milano Café on Center Street in Middleborough has come up with an uplifting marketing strategy that has caught everyone’s attention.
A Massachusetts coffee shop is creating a buzz and spreading positivity by inviting customers to ‘dance’ their way to a free coffee.
The sign outside Coffee Milano Café reads, “Walk in and give us your BEST dance moves for 5 seconds,” encouraging patrons to enter the shop dancing and grooving.
A clip of customers dancing their way into the café has racked up over 76 million views on TikTok since it was posted on November 18.
Inspired by a local pizzeria with a similar marketing activity, the cafe’s employees decided to adopt the policy as well.
Olivia Svenson, the social media director and a barista at Coffee Milano Café, told ABC News that she never expected the video to go viral or receive such a massive response to such a simple yet joyous act.
Customers were also pleasantly surprised to learn the policy was genuine and not just a marketing gimmick.
Svenson believes that more than the free coffee, people connected with the idea because it gave them a chance to express themselves freely.
They came out with the idea to add a fun twist for their regular customers, however, but the café owners are stunned by the video’s virality and the tremendous response it has received.
According to Svenson, in addition to gaining attention, and increased footfall, the initiative is also bringing people together.
The café owners are now brainstorming different versions of the idea, including a dance version featuring customers’ dogs.
They offered 35 free coffees that day and will be repeating the same policy on Black Friday at noon ET, all to spread joy and make people happy.
