Gita, a brave dog, helps save her owner’s life by sitting in the middle of the road until an officer follows her.
On September 25, an unnamed 84-year-old senior from Washington State fell, injured his leg, and was unable to move or get up.
His dog, Gita, a 13-year-old senior rescue pooch, ran outside to find help and sat on the roadway, waiting for someone to stop.

Thanks to Deputy Wright, who was patrolling the wooded area and noticed the pup, wondering to whom the dog belonged.
He looked around, but there were little to no residences in the area, so he tried to get the pooch inside his car to search for her owners.
However, the dog refused to get inside Wright’s car and instead sat down in the middle of the road.
Finding the dog’s behavior odd, he decided to follow her, as Gita walked toward an unmarked and lightly traveled roadway.
They soon reached a small cabin in the woods, and Wright looked around the house to find an elderly gentleman lying inside, calling for help.
The senior owner of Gita had fallen and was unable to get up; coupled with other medical complications, he had been lying there for hours until Wright discovered him.
Had it not been for the heroic efforts of the canine and the timely intervention of Wright, things could have ended on a bad note.
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office shared this story on their Facebook page to praise Deputy Wright’s efforts and Gita’s loyalty.
They wrote, “The loyalty and heroism of our furry friends never cease to amaze us.”
Many users appreciated the life-saving act, and one user stated, “What a good boy! Hats off to Deputy Wright for his intuition to follow the loyal pup!”
A cousin of the elderly gentleman, Pat Lolavera, also commented, “Thank you, Deputy Wright and the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office. We are very grateful you followed your instincts, experience, and Gita!”
