Funny Art Pieces by Dad Go Viral, Leading to a Flood of Portrait Requests

Jamie Lee Matthias from England is gaining immense popularity on social media for his funny art pieces.

A dad’s terrible yet funny artwork has gone viral, and he is now receiving paid commissions for “spoiling” other people’s beloved pictures.

On his wedding day, 41-year-old Jamie Lee Matthias from Alsager, a town in Cheshire, created a humorous art piece, which his wife, Kate, described as a “terrible” portrait of her.

Kate posted the hilariously funny artwork on her social media, where the wedding gift went viral instantly, receiving thousands of views, likes, and comments.

After this incident, Matthias has been receiving requests from people worldwide to create funny versions of their pictures as well.

He has now become an accidental artist, and his skill in creating funny, viral pictures has turned into a profitable side business.

According to the Daily Mail, he tries his best to paint the pictures accurately and does not intend to make them funny, but that’s just how they turn out.

A father of three, Matthias claims that painting has always been a family activity for him and his loved ones, and he finds it relaxing.

As a joke, he decided to paint a portrait of his wife as a wedding gift, and when the kids brought it out during the wedding speech, everyone adored it.

So, he created a few more for friends and family over Christmas, and once again, their reactions were priceless.

When people liked them so much, he thought he might actually start selling his funny art drawings and make some money.

To see how many more people might like them, Matthias and his wife created a Facebook and Instagram page called “Terrible Art by Jamie Lee,” and he was stunned when everyone loved them.

The picture was posted on January 2, and Matthias has already received 71 orders from all over England, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland to create funny, viral artwork.

Matthias paints for two hours every evening at his dining table, after his full-time job as an accountant, since he doesn’t have an art studio.

As the accountant-turned-painter balances both of his professions, he tries to create an alternate universe in his paintings that is completely devoid of proportions.

Patrons of his funny art are patient despite a three- to five-week waiting list and pay around $30 for each painting, plus shipping charges.

For someone who didn’t enjoy art school as a child, Matthias believes there’s no risk of his paintings getting any better and loves the fact that Kate and many others find his artwork ridiculous.
