Make-A-Wish Foundation Stories: Teen with Cystic Fibrosis Gets Private Jason Derulo Recording Session

Jason Derulo fulfilled the wish of a young cystic fibrosis patient through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, creating one of its most heartwarming stories.

At just two weeks old, Judah Favela from Wheaton, Illinois, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Now, at 14, music provides him solace and gives meaning to a life filled with medical struggles.

According to Favela’s mom, April Grim’s statement to ABC7, life is sometimes normal, but at other times, he has to stay in the hospital for a month.

Favela dreams of becoming a musician and began making music at 11, using the sounds of his medical equipment.

Amid the challenges of his medical condition, music helps him feel heard and understood, serving as the best way to pass the time while he’s sick in the hospital.

Favela dreams of becoming a musician and recording songs in a professional studio alongside stalwarts of the music industry.

This dream became a reality when the Make-A-Wish Foundation chose to fulfill his request.

On November 8, they surprised Favela by driving him in a limo to the private studio at Jason Derulo’s house. He was taken aback and, though nervous, described the experience as “surreal and heartwarming.”

In addition to the star singer and musician Jason Derulo, Favela also met D.A. Got That Dope, a producer who has worked with artists like Eminem and Tyga.

When Favela shared some of his own compositions, D.A. Got That Dope remarked that it was “hot” and sounded like fire.

The “Swalla” singer also added that it was incredible to hear such music from a 14-year-old, stating that Favela truly “lives and breathes his music.”

Later, they taught him some finer details and helped refine his craft to record a full-fledged song called “Pick Up The Phone,” which was performed by both Favela and Derulo.

Derulo was happy to partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and described Favela as “a fighter and super creative.” He believed this could be the start of a new journey for him.

Favela was thrilled with the unforgettable experience and the time he spent with his idols, including Derulo and D.A. Got That Dope.

Favela’s mom advises other parents to definitely consider the Make-A-Wish Foundation if their doctor mentions it, as it is an amazing experience.
