If adventures and cryptic clues excite you then have some fun treasure hunting in Australia, set up by a mysterious stranger.
An unidentified man named Jim from Australia decided to hide 1,000 $5 bills across a popular tourist island in the country, his reason being simple: to spread some joy and holiday cheer.
A tourist from the US, Nathan Johnson, who was in Australia for Christmas, met a man named Jim while on a return ferry from Magnetic Island in Queensland and learned about his treasure hunt plan.
Johnson clarified, as told to Yahoo, that he “almost didn’t believe him (Jim) at first.”
To verify and find out if this was real, Johnson decided to do some treasure hunting on the island himself.
To his surprise, he discovered a $5 note carefully placed inside a vinegar station near a beach in Horseshoe Bay.
Along with the $5 bill, he also found a note that read, “$5,000 in $5 notes have been placed around Magnetic Island in plain eyesight for people to find for Christmas 2024.”
‘If you are reading this, then you have found one. They are on trees, posts, tables, chairs, rocks, signs, bins, etc. Merry Christmas. Jim 765.’

Some other people also reported finding the notes, but the exact number discovered cannot be confirmed yet.
Johnson said that Jim lives a humble life and thought this idea would be fun and help do some good for others.
He also added that he had heard of a few others who found the notes, which made his Christmas a bit more cheerful.
The stranger also mentioned to Johnson that he was born in India to Australian parents but was raised in the island nation.
Regarding his fortune sharing, Jim revealed that he had gotten lucky in stocks, investing in the right things at the right time, and decided to share it with others.
So, if you happen to be on Magnetic Island in Queensland, Australia, you could be in for a wonderful surprise in the form of a treasure hunt.
