A heartwarming viral trend is gripping moms on TikTok right now, known as “She Deserves the Purse!”
To show love and consideration, moms across the United States are leaving gift cards and presents inside baby products for fellow moms.
It all started when an influencer and mom of two, Denaesha Gonzalez, 28, from Nashville, was on a usual shopping trip to Target and witnessed a sight she could relate to.

She saw a silver clutch purse worth $20 on an aisle around baby supplies. As a mom herself, she could understand that a fellow mom had sacrificed her own needs, and given up the purse to shop for the baby instead.
Gonzalez took out her phone to create a 17-second video about this, posting it on her TikTok account, which goes by the handle @thekatiebeach.
She captioned the clip, “SHE DESERVED THE PURSE…to The Mother who chose themselves last, you deserve the world tonight and always.”
The video quickly went viral and was seen over 23 million times as mothers deeply resonated with the message.
This could have been just a stark reminder of the sacrifices mothers make for their children, however, this led to a massive TikTok trend that took the nation by storm.
Another mom influencer, Cecily Bauchman, saw the video and kickstarted the trend by purchasing a $100 gift card from Target.
She then hid it inside a bag of Huggies diapers, hoping another lucky and hardworking mom would find it.
She even wrote a special note, “Hey! You deserve that special ‘you’ thing. You are amazing!” before placing it on a shelf.
Dubbed the “#SheDeservedThePurse” challenge by Bauchman, the clip inspired many other moms to spread the kindness further.
According to the Washington Post, more than 150 videos have been shared under the hashtag by hundreds of moms who began hiding gifts inside baby products at Walmart and Target, as well as emotional mothers posting about their experiences of finding the gifts.
Inspired by these incidents, a mom of two, 27-year-old Danielle Stanley, told the Post that she wanted to give the gift to “the right person.”
She noticed a mother struggling while shopping alone at Walmart with her newborn, clearly letting go of many items for herself as she looked through baby products.
Stanley was sad to see the woman removing stuff she required from her cart to include essentials for her baby. She then handed her a $100 gift card from the store, to which the shocked woman exclaimed, “Seriously? Seriously?”
The women hugged each other after the exchange, and Stanley said it made her Monday morning so much better.
While social media is often criticized for its negative impacts, this meaningful and heartwarming trend shows its brighter side.
